Derek Walcott that is...  

This week at the beginning of the meetup we will be discussing Derek Walcott - so please google some of his poems if you have time

And - we will practice writing a poem like Derek - see the poemSabbaths WI below or this link  Instead of the West Indies though it'll have to be around Champaign Urbana - think farmers market ( uh jim?) or blues and barbeque or local art festivals etc. bring us your ideas - Think colors, smells, vivid descriptions, unusual metaphors, what time of the year is it, what weekday, day or night, list the sights, repeat certain phrases - let's have fun with it

And, as usual, bring in some of your own poetry to discuss - (please bring in 6-8 copies to share if possible)
