CU Poetry at the Library - Verse First

  • Champaign Public Library - Room 215 - upstairs 200 West Green Street Champaign, IL (map)

The library is closing at 5pm on tuesday due to the weather so we will meet this thursday room 222 at the usual time - 7p-9p This seemed the best alternative - Spring will come-

Bonus: now you have extra time to work perfecting your villanelle or you can create your own even more villanous form perhaps a double mirror villanelle - :-)

If so inclined bring a written description of your form so we can see how crafty you needed to be and leave us wondering if we are brave enough to try that particular form ourselves

Pick a form any form.  This week your assignment is to write a poem using a form.  What form? Any form as long as your poem follows its requirements (for the most part) and you can tell us what it is.  And maybe bring in an example from another author you admire.  Sonnet, cinquain, haiku, sestina - google and choose - poetic forms are legion and new ones are still being created every day -
